Buddy Days - Child Development 2/3/4 participate in a Buddy Day one day each week along with one teaching day in the preschool. Buddy Days are time for one or two teachers to spend time with their Little Lancer, reading book, practicing Kindergarten readiness skills and completing weekly assessments that reflect the text book chapters we are reading in class.

3. Concept / Vocabulary Picture Book Assignment
Assignment
Familiarize yourself with the weekly themes of this semester’s preschool. Choose a theme from this semester. Think about all the concepts introduced in this topic and pick one to elaborate on. You will create a vocabulary concept book. Brainstorm all the vocabulary words relevant to the concept that are concrete and you are able to identify a photo or illustration of the word. Narrow your vocabulary word choice to 15 to 18 words. Create at least 15 page concept vocabulary book to be used in our preschool this semester. Save you concept book on the student drive. Name your file by your first and last name – and the title of your concept book. v
Include the following book criteria:
1 Title, Cover page, illustration/ photo, author 's name
2. Title page with illustration or photo your name
3. Illustration or photo of the whole topic. General to specific learning opportunity
4. Illustration / photo of 15 vocabulary words related to the topic.
5. Last page with paragraph about the topic and a final complete photo of topic.
6. Back cover – about the topic. 7 sentences about the topic and what curriculum topics and concepts are learned through the study of this topic. Your audience for writing the paragraphs is the parent of the preschool children.
7. Book is saved on the student drive on or before the due date.
8. Black and white copy of the book is made neatly and bound correctly, placed in the finish work bin.

Software package - Use MS Power Point
Font for title page – Century Gothic size / 40 or larger
Font for vocabulary – Century Gothic / size 48
Photos – care is taken to select clear simple photos that show the vocabulary word clearly.
Photos are clear and use the space appropriately. Text is simple and clearly depicts photo.

Construct a ten-page book for a student, "your buddy". Record facts during your conversations. Have the child draw a self portrait. Include traits and facts about thier famly. This book created in power point will be a great way to show the preschool student how unique they are developing a greater awareness of themselves and thier world.
Ideas to include; sports, favorite type of pizza, favorite type of ice-cream, favorite book, special teddy bear or stuffed toy.

Page 2 – The color of my eyes is blue.
Page 3 – I write with my left hand.
Page 4 – I am 7 years old.

Page 6 – There are 5 people in my family.
Page 7 – My phone number is 555-1234. (Again, this could be used alone or along with the address page for learning personal information.)
Page 8 – My favorite color is red.
Page 9 – My favorite things – includes space to write and draw.
Page 10 – I have 2 pets at home
